Mad Max - Fury Road: Movie Review

Wildly entertaining with care for narrative and quick character development, Mad Max: Fury Road is the prime summer blockbuster.

You should never take for granted the extent of someone's imagination, because George Miller seems to barely get started in this two hour spectacle that follows Mad Max (Tom Hardy) and Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) as they escape from a desolate, barbaric wasteland to find a better place in the world.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the typical musical without the music.  Miller creates a tightly choreographed, chaotic world with over-the-top characters and a story that moves during explosive action. Quick-take dialogue sequences are dispersed in between the half hour action scenes to add flavor and character to what could almost become a flat, boring Mad Max. Luckily, along with the dialogue, the characters are just as lively and chaotic.

Cinematically, Miller creates a breathtaking film with action you'll only find on the big screen. Mad Max: Fury Road is over-the-top, but never cheesy or boring. Each moment is another thrilling nail-biter. Miller might have given life back to the auteur blockbuster.

A
Good Qualities: Great actions, characters, all out fun.
Bad Qualities: Might be confused by the backstory.
